About the House

What is the House of Hikmah?

This House is a platform for the voices, visions, ideas and creativity of Muslims in Australia and around the world. It is a platform for discussion, a platform to network, a platform to discover more about our community and ourselves – ultimately, to better and strengthen ourselves.

Our diversity makes us strong, simply because of the fact that at the core we share the same values, beliefs and are always in the pursuit of improving ourselves as individuals, but most significantly as a community – together!

Like every other community, we start from the very beginning – which for us means: publishing articles, videos, podcasts and hosting events – and as we progress the goals will grow in accords: Community gatherings, entrepreneurial events, art workshops, political involvement, international activism whatever it is we can achieve depends on the visions we have and the visions you can bring forth…

Alone you may run fast, but together we run far.

What is the House’s Vision?

Together, we want to be the intercultural and inclusive go-to segment of the Muslim community in relation to the young, vibrant and visionary Muslims in not only Melbourne or Australia, but Internationally in both the western and eastern Muslim world.

What is the House’s Mission?

How we will become that community of which we have longed, dreamed and now strive to become, is through knowing ourselves and our history: with the obvious examples of the Golden Age, the original House of Wisdom in Baghdad (Bayt-al-Hikmah) and quite importantly the example of our beloved Prophet ﷺ and the movement that he lead. As we understand our history, our future becomes clearer, up to the point where we will be able to change the current perception that we have of ourselves – which inadvertently will change the view the world and history will have of us.
